Montgomery, on the west side of Lake Conroe, has a new set of model homes to tour, and they come from one of the biggest names in Houston home building.
David Weekley Homes is now selling in Walden Creek, a community in Montgomery. According to the company's Oct. 9 announcement, its two fully furnished model homes, The Conroe and The Presidio, are open daily for tours.
Two models, two collections
The Conroe is the model for the Walden Creek Reserve Collection. It is a single-story home with 2,275 square feet, four bedrooms, three full baths and a two-car garage. It sits at 18519 Scarlet Paintbrush Drive.
Next door, at 18515 Scarlet Paintbrush Drive, The Presidio shows off the Summit Collection. It is a two-story home with about 3,500 square feet, four bedrooms, three full baths, a half bath and a four-car garage.
Across the two collections, Weekley offers one- and two-story floor plans on 45- and 60-foot homesites. The homes run from about 1,713 to 4,079 square feet, with three to five bedrooms, two to four full baths, one half bath and garages for two to four cars.
The announcement didn't list prices. The builder's Walden Creek community page lists the Reserve Collection from $369,990, with eight floor plans from 1,713 to 2,770 square feet and eight quick move-in homes. The Summit Collection shows 12 floor plans and six quick move-in homes, but the page didn't show a starting price for it when we checked. Buyers can call the community at 713-574-5048 for current pricing and availability.
Life on the lake side
Walden Creek's amenities lean toward the outdoors. Homeowners have access to a waterfront amenity with a dock and fishing, a park with a playground and shade structure, sidewalks, and a boat launch with access to Lake Conroe. The company says the community is convenient to a golf course and nearby shopping, dining and entertainment.
Students in Walden Creek attend Montgomery ISD schools.
David Weekley Homes was founded in 1976 and is headquartered in Houston. The company says it operates in 19 markets and has closed more than 130,000 homes since it started. It is one of the largest privately held home builders in the country.
For Montgomery and the surrounding area, a new community from a major builder means more construction traffic on local roads for a while. It also means more families moving in, more students in Montgomery ISD and more customers for local businesses once the homes are finished.
The mix of lot sizes is worth noting. Offering both 45-foot and 60-foot homesites lets a builder serve two different groups of buyers in the same community. Narrower lots usually mean smaller, less expensive homes for buyers watching their budget. Wider lots allow larger homes like the four-car-garage Presidio for move-up buyers.
The range of sizes, from about 1,700 to more than 4,000 square feet, shows the same idea. One community can carry a starter-sized plan and a big family home on the same streets.
Why it matters for Contractors
A new community from a big production builder is good news for the subcontractors who work behind the scenes. Every home in Walden Creek will need foundations, framing, roofing, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, drywall, paint, flooring, cabinets and landscaping. With two collections and plans ranging from about 1,700 to more than 4,000 square feet, there is a wide mix of work. The community page already lists 14 quick move-in homes across the two collections, a sign that homes are already going up or finished.
Large builders like Weekley rely on steady trade partners who can hit schedules and quality standards across dozens or hundreds of homes. For local trades in Montgomery County, a new community close to home can mean less windshield time and more days on the job.
The lake setting adds variety. Amenities like a dock, a waterfront area and a boat launch call for different skills than a typical subdivision, and they give site, concrete and marine contractors another reason to watch this community. Contractors who want to work with Weekley in Walden Creek should reach out to the builder's local purchasing and construction teams. It's also a good sign for the Lake Conroe area overall: builders are still betting on demand for new homes in Montgomery County.
