Louisiana Construction News

Construction in Louisiana is defined by water. New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Shreveport and Monroe each sit in very different terrain, but builders statewide plan for hurricanes, high winds, flooding, soft soils and subsidence, often with deep pile foundations and elevated structures. The petrochemical and refining corridor along the Mississippi River, ports and shipping, LNG and energy projects, and coastal protection and restoration drive large industrial and public work, while storm recovery and resilient rebuilding remain a constant. Commercial and residential contractors are licensed through the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors. Hurricane season also sets the calendar for much of the outdoor and roofing work in the southern parishes.

On this page you'll find Louisiana construction news on industrial and energy projects, port and levee work, coastal restoration contracts, housing and storm recovery, and road and bridge construction. We also cover state policy, insurance and building code changes that affect how Louisiana builds.
